The Direction followed an inspection of the Facility by GPCB on January 6, 2026 under Section 23 of the Water Act, in which GPCB recorded non-compliance with the Water Act and the conditions of the Consolidated Consents and Authorisation (\u201cCCA\u201d). The Company undertook remedial measures, it also paid interim Environmental Damage Compensation (\u201cEDC\u201d) of \u20b99,00,000 and furnished bank guarantees aggregating \u20b98,00,000. By order dated February 11, 2026, GPCB revoked the Closure Direction for a period of three months, before the date on which it was to take effect. The Closure Direction therefore did not take effect, and there was no disconnection of power or water supply to the Facility. Following a further inspection on May 26, 2026, GPCB, by order dated June 17, 2026, extended the revocation of the Direction for further six months , subject to conditions including compliance with the CCA, by December 2026. The Company\u2019s application dated May 8, 2026 for permanent revocation is pending with GPCB.
